Kansas hard red winter wheat looks good

The Wheat Quality Council's annual Kansas hard red winter wheat tour is showing pretty good results in most areas. According to the Council, the crop looks healthy withgood moisture levels. Scouts add that they do expect drought stress to increase as the tour moves south towards the border with Oklahoma before wrapping up Thursday. Kansas produces more than a quarter of the U.S. hard red winter crop.

The USDA will issue winter wheatproduction estimates Tuesday May 12.
