South Carolina currently warm and dry

It was a warm, dry week for most of South Carolina, slowing down planting and leading toconcerns about crop development. Corn planting is just about finished and emergence is at 75%, a little slower than average due to the recent dry weather. Soybean, cotton and peanut planting are also slower than normal.

Tobacco transportation is at 88% with 56% of the cropin good to excellent condition. Vegetable conditions are generally good and peaches are in 57% good to excellent condition.
