Rain brings relief, but Missouri crops behind
Cooler temperatures and rainfall continue to benefit pastures across Missouri and non-irrigated crops in the southeast. Statewide, topsoil moisture is 85 percent adequate to surplus.
Corn silking is 63 percent complete, which is ahead of last year but behind normal, according to the USDA Agriculture Statistics Office. Corn is rated 58 percent good to excellent. Soybean blooming is at 28 percent, 8 days ahead of last year but a week behind normal. Soybeans are 56 good to excellent.
Temperatures averaged 4 to 8 degrees below normal across Missouri this past week.
