Working on biodiesel-specific feedstocks

Biodiesel is currently produced using whatever feedstock – in this case, fats and oils – are left over from food production. It’s working fine, but Steve Howell says biodiesel makers can do better. The ASTM biodiesel task force chairman says the day is coming when feedstocks made from specially-bred plant life will produce biodiesel that’ll flow even when the temperature plummets to 20 degrees below zero. Even pure petroleum diesel fuel gels when chilled to that extent.
