Nebraska farmer adds iPad to tool box
Nebraska farmer Mark McHargue recently added a new tool to his tool box—an iPad tablet computer.
“Business wise, it has a lot of merit and it’s a lot easier to carry around as far my truck and in my tractor and the applications are endless,” McHargue says.
McHargue says he wants to be able to keep all of his documents with him during the day.
“I’m finding it works very well. There’s an application called Dropbox where you can take any file on your home computer, put it in that Dropbox file and you can automatically share it with your iPad or your iPhone,” McHargue says. “I can pull it in, view it, work on it, save it and kick it back to that file on the home computer.”
And, McHargue says, no matter where he’s at—if he has Internet access—he can access that file.
“That’s just been great–as much documentation with all the meetings and boards that I’m involved in–my goal is to carry all of my documents with me and I can pull them up as a PDF about any time I want to,” he says.
McHargue raises hogs and row crops near Central City, Nebraska. He also serves as second vice president of Nebraska Farm Bureau.
