Kicking off the Indiana State Fair

The 2014 Indiana State Fair is underway and it is celebrating the “Year of the Coliseum”.  Indiana governor Mike Pence says it is a great way to connect agriculture to the fair goer.  “The Indiana State Fair has been a tradition for a century and a half,” he says.  “It’s really a celebration of the past, present and future of agriculture in this state.   I really think this is going to be the best state fair ever – with our newly renovated Coliseum and lots of new attractions and exhibitions.  I think Hoosiers are going to find this a great family value for 17 days in August.”

Ham Breakfast is agriculture’s kick-off to the Indiana State Fair.  Kirk Thornburg, president of the Indiana Pork Producers tells Brownfield it’s a tradition and is a key in connecting with legislators.  “We need them to understand what our challenges are,” he says.  “So they can make the best decisions for all residents of Indiana – whether they are pork farmers or not.”
