New Testament Herbicide Targets Early-Season Weed Control in Corn and Soybeans

At Commodity Classic 2026, Helena Product Manager Paul Sauer discussed a new herbicide designed to help growers stay ahead of tough weeds early in the season

Sauer tells Brownfield the new product, called Testament, is a corn and soybean herbicide formulated to provide strong early-season control and reduce the need for costly rescue treatments later in the year.

Testament features a three-mode-of-action approach, combining the main active ingredients found in Zidua, Sharpen, and Outlook. The combination is designed to provide lasting control of several problematic weeds, including Palmer amaranth, waterhemp, marestail, morningglory, and annual grasses in corn and soybean fields.

Sauer says herbicide resistance continues to be a major challenge for farmers, making products with multiple modes of action increasingly important.

He says with tight farm margins, protecting yield potential is critical. Investing in high-quality seed is important, and effective weed management plays a major role in making sure that investment pays off.

Sauer says controlling weeds early helps protect yield potential and can ultimately reduce the need for more expensive cleanup applications later in the season.
