During the months of September 2024, December 2024, and March 2025, Beck’s will recognize outstanding high school athletes who demonstrate that they are a Player with Heart. At Beck’s, we are and will remain, Farmers at Heart™.

Scholarship winners will be selected and contacted by Beck’s representatives in April 2025.

Theodore Schatz – Le Center, MN

Theodore Schatz was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his commitment and passion on and off the court. What Theodore loves most about high school sports is the lessons he learned along the way and how he can correlate the game of basketball to his life. Basketball has taught Theodore how to handle himself in times of struggle or tough times during a game. Theodore is the president of his FFA chapter, president of his 4-H club, and the President and Ambassador of the Le Sueur County 4-H Federation. Agriculture, for Theodore, is more than just growing crops and raising livestock; it is the backbone of the world as he knows it. Agriculture supplies all grocery stores with food and meat markets with meat. It grows fibers for clothing and creates materials to build homes. Agriculture has been a huge part of his life growing up. Living on a farm and raising livestock, he eats, sleeps, and breathes agriculture. All of these factors play a huge role in his life. Theodore plans to attend a 2 or 4-year school to study something within the agricultural field.

Abby Brichacek – Staples, MN

Abby Brichacek was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the court and field. The thing she enjoys most about high school sports is the connection she has made through the games and tournaments with other teams and her teammates. Abby competes in trap shooting and skeet teams, track and field, and volleyball. She is also the ’24-’25 Staples-Motley FFA Treasurer. Abby volunteers at the Catholic school in Staples, Minnesota and she supports small family farms. To Abby, agriculture is central to how she lives and works. It represents a sustainable future by growing crops and raising animals to feed the population. Abby plans to get her associate’s degree and continue to culinary school to become a pastry chef.

Lindsey Lund – Dawson, MN

Lindsey Lund was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the court. Lindsey enjoys the atmosphere and community she has found in high school sports. She has found that you have to work for what you want, as nothing is freely given to you. She has learned these lessons while playing volleyball, basketball, and golf and while participating in choir and orchestra. Lindsey also teaches Sunday school and is in a Christian singing group. Lindsey’s parents are farmers, so agriculture has played a large role in her life and given her a chance to see community support firsthand. After graduation, Lindsey would like to attend a four-year college for an accounting degree and would like to play collegiate golf.

Philip Vander Lugt – Edgerton, MN

Philip Vander Lugt was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his commitment and passion on and off the court, field, and course. He loves high school sports because of the relationships he’s developed with his teammates, and he enjoys the competitiveness. Philp stays busy with football, basketball, and golf, but in his spare time, he’s involved in the school play, school band, and National Honor Society. He has taught middle schoolers the basics of golf at the rec center, reads at church, and has read to his mom’s first-grade class as well as helped set up their Chromebooks. Agriculture is one of the key pillars of Philip’s life. His grandparents were farmers and he started out small by helping his dad in the fields with cattle chores and with raising bottle calves with his brother. He is very thankful for the values and morals that agriculture has instilled in him, and he hopes to carry them on throughout his life. In the future, Philip plans on attending the University of Minnesota to pursue a degree in economics.

Brennen Thooft – Lynd, MN

Brennen Thooft was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his commitment and passion in and out of band. He feels it is important to be active in high school activities and loves being a part of a group that all have similar goals and interests and work together as a team. Additionally, activities encourage him to step out of his comfort zone and try something new. As a part of the pep band, he is encouraged to attend almost every sport in high school to serve as a part of the student section. Brennen is involved in marching band as a trumpet section leader, concert band, choir, jazz band, pep band, honors band, BEATS as a captain, knowledge bowl, and Business Professionals of America (BPA), where he has competed at regional, state, and national level in spreadsheets application. Outside of school, Brennen plays the piano and finds enjoyment in playing not only during his free time but also for numerous events such as recitals, duet festivals, and Gold Cup competitions. He is also very active with his church community by participating in Holy Helpers, helping with summer faith programs, volunteering at fundraising events, and working at his church’s food booth at the local county fair. Agriculture has made a significant impact on Brennen’s life. His family lives on the same farm that his dad grew up on. Agriculture and sports feature multiple similarities including that they both encourage hard work, demand long hours, and require dedication. Living in an agricultural environment has shaped him as an individual. Brennen plans on majoring in either marketing or finance. He would also like to minor in music because of his passion for it.

Charlie Holmes – Rochester, MN

Charlie Holmes was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the court. The thing she loves most about playing a high school sport is her teammates. She has spent the last four years working hard and playing her best alongside 16 players who genuinely feel like a second family to her. Charlie is involved in volleyball and helps run the camps for the younger girls in the summer. In her free time, she works at the nursing home in her community as a CNA. She has also volunteered at the legion, serving veterans for different occasions and events. She does all of this while trying her best to complete her associate’s degree before graduating high school. To Charlie, agriculture means a few different things. It does take a lot of time, effort, money, and hard work, but above all joy and passion must be present. It takes a village to make a functioning farm life. People may have different strong suits and contributions but being passionate while doing it is what agriculture is about. After high school, Charlie plans to attend nursing school and would like to work at Mayo Clinic while living on land of her own. In the future, she eventually wants to move back home to be near her family and contribute her part to the farm and support system.

Sidney Erickson – Fertile, MN

Sidney Erickson was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the court and course. What Sidney loves most about high school sports is that they give her beneficial life skills and have taught her to work hard with teammates and develop connections. She has had the opportunity to learn something new every day, just like in class. Sidney is involved in basketball, Close-Up, choir, FFA, Minnesota Honor Society, yearbook, and webmaster. For Close-Up, she is fundraising money to go to Washington D.C. and New York. This allows her to get to take a trip to learn about the government and economy. Sidney stays active outside of her school activities, which include church, Polk County 4-H, state-level 4-H, and the family farm. When Sidney thinks of the word agriculture, she thinks of everything in the world. If there was no agriculture in the world, there would be nothing. On her farm, she learns and works together with her family as a team to feed, care, and manage their livestock. She loves expressing her passion for the agriculture and livestock industry. Sidney plans to attend either North Dakota State University or Kansas State University after high school. She is planning to pursue agriculture business and animal science. Although unsure of her career, she is leaning towards becoming an agriculture teacher to promote agriculture to kids who may not realize how much farmers and ranchers do. After college, she would like to find a stable job and live on a big beef farm to keep her passion for cattle farm going.

Kylie Mann – Lake City, MN

Kylie Mann was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the court and field. High school sports are special to her because they offer a unique blend of passion, community, and personal growth. What she loves most is seeing how they bring people together. Athletes can discover their strengths and learn important life lessons, all while having fun and making lasting memories. Kylie participates in softball, volleyball, NHS, Key Club, Teen Leadership Program, FFA, and choir. She is a class officer and Jr. Fair Board Member, a part of the LC wellness committee, leads Tiger Tailgating and is involved in 4-H as club president. Kylie also volunteers at many different organizations and events, including the county goat project developmental committee and the County Council. To Kylie, agriculture is not only about farming but also about providing the food and resources that people need to survive. Agriculture plays a huge role in supporting communities, economies, and the environment. It’s a combination of science, technology, and nature working together. For her, agriculture also represents the responsibility of taking care of the land and finding sustainable ways to feed a growing population, while protecting the earth for future generations. Kylie plans to attend college for agriculture business or pre-vet while playing softball.

Kyler Lozinski – Minneota, MN

Kyler Lozinski was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his commitment and passion on and off the field and mat. What he loves most about high school sports is being around his friends while competing. He also enjoys learning lessons from the sports he plays. Kyler is involved in football, wrestling, and baseball. He is also a proud member of FFA and serves as the treasurer. He participates in his community by being a member of Hope Lutheran Church. To Kyler, agriculture is a way of life because of the different parts it entails and how it develops the world. It is his passion, and he finds joy in the involvement. When he graduates high school, Kyler plans on attending Lake Area Tech in Watertown South Dakota to pursue a precision ag degree.

Anna Rott – Elgin, MN

Anna Rott was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the court and field. What Anna loves most about high school sports is the opportunity to hang out and compete with new people. They allow her to connect with kids that aren’t in the same grade or school as her. She finds it refreshing to find people who have the same passion for sports that she does. Anna is a three-sport athlete, competing in volleyball, basketball, and track & field. She is involved in 4-H, FFA, Knowledge Bowl, and concert band while also serving her school and community in National Honor Society, Student Council as the Junior President, and the PEM Bulldog Ambassador Program. Agriculture to Anna is one of the most important parts of her life as it represents hard work and selflessness. Many of her passions stem from her background in agriculture and farming. She expressed how she always feels lucky to have been able to grow and learn in her community. Anna plans on attending a 4-year college majoring in Animal Science, Biology, or Engineering and hopes to play sports in college as well. 

Nick Olson – Annandale, MN

Nick Olson was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his commitment and passion on and off the field and mat. What he loves most about high school sports is the relationships that he creates through competing as well as the influence he has made on underclassmen by setting examples. Nick is currently involved in baseball, football and wrestling. Outside of school and sports Nick participates in church youth group, Community Farmers Markets, and is a Vacation Bible School leader. When Nick thinks about agriculture, he believes it is much broader than just large machinery and fields of crops. The farm he grew up on produces not only crops, but also maple syrup, grass-fed beef, and pasture-raised chickens. To Nick, agriculture is about providing a wide variety of food and raw materials that sustain his community. From syrup and honey to high-quality meats and eggs, agriculture plays a vital role in feeding the world and supporting local economies. Nick plans on joining the United States Air Force, and then possibly going to the academy. However, after receiving an opportunity to play division 2 or 3 football and continue his academic and athletic career, Nick is undecided on his plans after high school.

Caleb Kurtti – Goodhue, MN

Caleb Kurtti was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his commitment and passion on and off the field and mat. What he enjoys most about high school sports is the team aspect and the sense of unity that comes with being part of something bigger than himself. Throughout high school sports and experiences beyond, he has formed incredible friendships and unforgettable memories. As a captain for multiple sports, he takes great pride in leading his teams and pushing himself to perform at his best. Caleb is a three-sport athlete, competing in football, wrestling, and baseball, while also participating in club wrestling throughout much of the summer. Beyond athletics, he is involved in his school community. He is a member of the National Honor Society and his school leadership group. Being active in so many areas has allowed him to make the most of his high school experience while contributing to the success of others around him. Caleb is actively involved in many community activities, most of which are centered around athletics. He volunteers as a flag football coach and assists with youth wrestling practices. Caleb also contributes by helping his mother with the community gardens, assisting his father in maintaining the baseball fields, and participating in volunteer efforts through the National Honor Society. Agriculture is deeply rooted in Caleb’s life and community as it serves as one of its main lifelines. Farming is also a big part of his family’s life. Several members of his family are farmers, and they often ask him to pitch in with tasks like covering piles, stacking hay bales, or helping with other manual labor. These experiences have taught him the value of hard work and the importance of supporting one another. Caleb aspires to pursue a degree in mechanical or civil engineering in hopes to be blessed with the opportunity to play football or wrestle at the collegiate level. He is excited about the chance to combine his problem-solving skills, creativity, and drive to contribute meaningfully to the world around him.

Madilyn Portner – New Ulm, MN

Madilyn Portner was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the court. What she loves most about high school sports is the relationships she has made with her teammates and coaching staff. Being able to grow together as dancers and as a team is something special to her. Madilyn is involved in New Ulm Just For Kix, New Ulm Eagles Varsity Dance Team, FFA, student council, and FCCLA. For both FFA and student council, she is on the officer team as a secretary. Madilyn also participates in the New Ulm Royalty program as a Princess, the Brown County Dairy Association as a Princess, the Brown County Pork Producers as an ambassador, and New Ulm Community Meals. Together, these organizations give her various volunteer opportunities. To Madilyn, agriculture means supporting the worldwide population as it continues to grow. Agriculture is more than growing crops or raising livestock, it’s about the personal reward of knowing she is contributing to something bigger than herself. Growing up and living on a farm has taught her lifelong qualities such as a strong work ethic, responsibility, and commitment. Madilyn’s plans, although not final, are to attend the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities with hopes of becoming a large animal veterinarian.

Madison Passer – Wells, MN

Madison Passer was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the court and field. What she loves most about high school sports is that they provide valuable opportunities for personal growth and self-discovery. Additionally, the self-discipline and dedication required to excel in sports can be transferred to many different aspects in the real world; ultimately helping her prepare for life beyond high school. Madison is involved in volleyball and track and field, serving as a captain for both. She is the vice president of her FFA chapter, a member of her NHS chapter, a section leader and secretary for her concert band, jazz band, marching band, and pep band, and a mentor for the Big Rebel Little Rebel Program. Some community activities that she participates in are kindergarten/preschool help at the end of the school day, serving breakfast at the local VFW, helping run the community’s blood drive, giving food packages for her school’s backpack program, helping out at her church’s holiday carnivals and playing taps for her local funeral home. Agriculture, to Madison, means everything. As the daughter of a farmer who produces soybeans and corn, she has been able to see the dedication and the hard work it takes to provide for her community first-hand. Being the vice president of her FFA chapter, participating in many region and state contests, and also having her own SAE project make it to the state level has only deepened her appreciation and passion for this field. She has learned throughout the years that agriculture is not only a profession, it is a way of life. Although undecided about where she wants to go to college, she is planning on majoring in communication disorders.

Ashlyn Nelson – Oklee, MN

Ashlyn Nelson was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the court, course, and field. What she loves most about high school sports is the team bonding and family she has gained from playing with others. She enjoys the constant competition and having to work towards her goals. Ashlyn is involved in cross country, basketball, and track and field as well as the Minnesota Honors Society. Some community activities Ashlyn is involved in include being a teacher at Vacation Bible School, an Elementary basketball coach, a BioGirls mentor, and participating in the local 5k races. Through these events and opportunities, she is able to gain volunteer hours for the Minnesota Honors Society. Coming from a family that farms, Ashlyn believes agriculture is a significant amount of the crops grown on the soil. The crops that each farmer harvest provides her with food she finds in stores. Many may not realize that humans are not the only ones who need farmers, animals and all living things get fuel from the farmers’ crops too. Ashlyn plans to attend Northland Community and Technical College in East Grand Forks to study to be a physical therapy assistant and potentially play basketball.

Grace Schavey – Blue Earth, MN

Grace Schavey was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the court and field. What she loves most about high school sports is the team aspect, the community that comes with playing, and the character it builds in her. It is an amazing opportunity to be with teammates and coaches that treat her like family and build connections and relationships with all of them. She will never forget the memories and lessons throughout her high school sports journey. Grace is involved in girls’ tennis, basketball, and track and field. She is also active in her school’s FFA chapter serving as an officer, as well as BPA (Business Professionals of America), peer helping, National Honor Society, and is currently her junior class vice president. In her community, Grace participates in 4-H, at both club and county levels where she has served in many offices at both levels. Through 4-H, she has volunteered at her fair and throughout the year at various events. She is also active in her church and enjoys volunteering at many different community activities such as helping at youth sports camps and volunteering at different community events with her basketball team. Agriculture is one of the most important things in Grace’s life. Growing up on her family’s farm, as well as in the livestock industry showing pigs, or through 4-H and FFA, has been one of the most valuable things to her. The agriculture and livestock industries have shaped who she is today as a person, teaching her many invaluable life lessons and skills, as well as a work ethic and truly working for what she wants to accomplish. After high school, Grace plans to attend college and possibly further her education in agri-business or the animal science area. She would also like to be able to return home to her family farm one day and help them continue farming. Additionally, she would like to thank her parents, coaches, teammates, mentors, and anyone else in her life who has helped get her to this point and shaped her into who she is.

Anistasia Smith – Wabasso, MN

Anistasia Smith was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the court and field. What she loves most about high school sports is the friendships she has made and the confidence and passion she has built from playing sports. Anistasia competes in basketball, volleyball, and softball. She has also been involved in FCA, band, and FFA. Outside of school and sports, she participates in helping coach little kids basketball, softball, volleyball camps. She has also helped teach religion classes to little kids and helps the Wabasso Public Library annual holiday craft show. To Anistasia, agriculture provides food clothing and shelter. It is the foundation of living. Agriculture is very important to her daily life, as she would not be here today without it. Anistasia plans to attend Minnesota West in Worthington for two years. She will be going into the dental field, as she is looking to become a dental hygienist. She will also be playing basketball there for the next two years.

Sophia Nelson – Slayton, MN

Sophia Nelson was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the course and field. What she loves most about high school sports is the family that she makes with her teammates. Everyone is always so supportive of each other and they encourage her. She has made many good friends from high school sports and has met the nicest people, supporters, and coaches. Sophia competes in cross country and track and field. In school, she participates in FFA, musical theater, one-act play, band, jazz band, choir, knowledge bowl, and honor society. She is also involved in 4-H as her club president and is her county’s 4-H federation president and county ambassador. She shows beef cattle and meat goats and is a 4-H camp counselor. Agriculture is a very core part of Sophia’s life and an important aspect of her growth. Growing up on a farm has taught her to be resilient and productive. Her involvement in 4-H and FFA has taught her leadership and responsibility while giving her a strong work ethic. Agriculture is a central part of her community and has provided many opportunities for her and many other students. Sophia plans on attending Southwest Minneapolis State University for communication arts & literature education and hopes to become a high school English teacher.

Ethan Andresen – Montevideo, MN

Ethan Andresen was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his commitment and passion on and off the course, pool, and field. What he loves most about high school sports is how they bring people together. Whether they are talking on the bus, feeling the energy of a packed stadium on meet night, or having a tough practice, they are always together as a team. He loves the feeling of representing something bigger than just himself. Ethan competes in cross-country, swimming, track and field, trap and skeet. He participates in National Honor Society and band. Outside of school and sports, he is involved in 4-H and the local church. He is heavily involved with helping set up the fairgrounds during most of the summer and often volunteers through the church to serve his community. To Ethan, agriculture is more than just an industry. It is a way of life. It is early mornings, hard work, and seeing the land and animals differently than most. It is about the changing seasons that control his daily life and the satisfaction of seeing crops grow from seed to harvest. It is also about the community and neighbors helping each other during planting, harvesting, or tough times. After graduating high school, Ethan plans to attend Iowa State and major in aerospace engineering, specializing in drones and their applications in agriculture.

Ella Schull – Mapleton, MN

Ella Schull was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the court. What she loves most about high school sports is all the friendships she has been able to make. She has formed so many close bonds with her teammates and many of them are now her close friends. Another thing she loves is the skills she has picked up from the sports she plays. Those skills can go anywhere from communication to time management and learning how to incorporate another activity into her schedule. Lastly, she loves how sports bring the community together. Being able to see so many fans in the Mapleton community come to home games is amazing. Ella competes in volleyball and basketball and she is involved in FFA at Maple River. Outside of school and sports, she volunteers to help set up the fall festival in October and helps take it down when it is over. Agriculture means so many things to Ella. It’s about learning from the challenges and continuing to grow from them. Being in an agriculture-related field means hard work and that’s something she loves to show. It’s something that has been running in the bloodline for generations and she is proud to say that she has the opportunity to be a part of the next. The possibilities and opportunities agriculture gives her are endless. Every day, she learns from challenges and new experiences. Ella plans on attending South Dakota State University to major in agricultural science.

Kylee Hall – Garden City, MN

Kylee Hall was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the field and court. What she loves most about high school sports is the team aspect; where she can cheer on her teammates, celebrate success together, and help each other through every high and low. She also enjoys having her friends as teammates who participate in the same sports as her. She enjoys working hard in practice to improve her skills and see the results in the competitions. She appreciates being coached, learning different things during each sports season, and the variety of life skills that sports teach her. The sports Kylee competes in include softball, basketball, and volleyball. She is involved in the National Junior Honor Society, Student Council, Knowledge Bowl, and Choir. When she is not working in school, Kylee participates in her church’s youth group and travel softball. To Kylee, agriculture means hard work and dedication. In her family, there have been generations of farmers, so she understands the commitment it takes, the work ethic that is needed, and the overall importance of agriculture to provide necessities to communities. She enjoys traveling to stay with her grandparents who farm corn and soybeans each fall during harvest. Their work ethic has been an example to her parents and has passed on to her in everything she does. Kylee plans to graduate from high school, attend college, and play Division 1 softball. She is currently thinking about majoring in elementary education or exercise science. 

Ema Flann – Lake Lillian, MN

Ema Flann was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the court and field. Getting to know her teammates is the aspect she loves most about high school sports. She enjoys the laughs and memories they have made together. The sports Ema competes in include volleyball, basketball, and softball. She also participates in choir. When she is not playing sports or working in school, Ema participates in her community by attending her local church. Agriculture to Ema has been a way of life for her family for many generations. Her family farm is where her ancestors settled and it brings her pride and honor to care for it. After graduating high school, although undecided, Ema plans to attend college to earn a business degree. 

Kody Kostick – Aitkin, MN

Kody Kostick was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his commitment and passion on and off the court. Although unable to pick one favorite aspect of high school sports, he has had a lot of amazing moments in all the sports he’s been a part of. The sports he plays have had a major role in his growth as a person on and off the court. He has made friendships and relationships with some of his now closest friends on his team and other opposing teams. High school sports have forced him to learn discipline and commitment at an early age. He has loved helping the younger players and being a role model to them. He has developed character and learned many skills such as leadership, commitment, responsibility, and relationship building. He loves everything that his teammates, coaches, and spectators have taught him throughout his time as an athlete. Kody competes in basketball as the captain. He is also a member of the peer leader group at Aitkin High School and is involved in Aitkin High School Community Service Day. Kody is a member of Aitkin County 4-H and has held offices in his club as well. He has participated in his community by helping with the Community Halloween Party for 10 years by donating his time to run games and a haunted house for the younger kids. He has been involved in the Community 5K run to raise funds for the veterans of Aitkin County. He participated in community walks and awareness for suicide prevention. He has advocated for suicide awareness in his community and tries to instill courage to reach out for help when it is needed. This has become a very important conviction for him. Agriculture, to Kody, is the backbone of the local economy. It is a fantastic source of food and family tradition in Aitkin County. He believes it is important for communities all around the world to value agriculture because it plays a major role in all communities, even more than people may know. The local community he lives in has a broad view of agriculture, and agriculture has been a staple in the community. He comes from a family that raises pigs and horses, so agriculture is a major part of his life. He understands the value of agriculture in his community and how much it has shaped the town he lives in. He is enrolled at the University of North Dakota and will be pursuing a major in nursing. He plans to specialize in pediatric oncology nursing with a future dream of someday working at St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. He hopes to make a difference in kids’ lives.

Zachary Overgaard – Luverne, MN

Zachary Overgaard was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his commitment and passion on and off the field and course. What he loves most about high school sports is the bond that his teammates and he have created throughout the years. He believes the friendships from sports last forever, and so do the memories. In sports, Zachary competes in football and golf. He has also been given the privilege of managing his school’s hockey team, where they got the opportunity to participate in the state tournament. When he is not in school or playing sports, Zachary participates in peer helping, which involves contributing hours such as small projects for the community. Zachary has learned all that he knows about agriculture from his father. His father has taught him what it means to become a man and he has learned that nothing is ever guaranteed, similar to when farmers hope for no rain, and the next day, it storms. After graduating high school, Zachary plans to go to a two-year trade school for electrical construction and then return home to his community to develop his own electrical company.

Henry Lemke – Watkins, MN

Henry Lemke was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his commitment and passion on and off the course. His favorite part about high school sports is having the chance to meet people from other schools. Through cross country and track he has been able to create a community of fellow competitors that he can compete against but also train and have fun with. To Henry, agriculture is about community. He believes agriculture allows the world to operate and without the community that has been built around it, this would not be possible. Henry is involved in 4-H, cross country, track, FFA, Student Council, NHS, Knowledge Bowl, speech, band, German club, and his church band. His future plans are to go to college to become an orthopedic surgeon.

Jack Wertish – Renville, MN

Jack Wertish was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his commitment and passion on and off the field. His favorite part about high school sports is being able to interact with his teammates and build bonds on and off the field. He also enjoys all the memories he has made and will cherish them forever. To Jack, agriculture is hard work, late nights and early mornings dedicated to getting the job done so you can provide for your family and the world. He is involved in NHS, FFA, baseball, basketball, student council and church group. Jack’s future plans are to attend South Dakota State University for something agriculture related.

Nick Slater – Nicollet, MN

Nick Slater was nominated as Beck’s Player with Heart for his commitment and passion on and off the field. His favorite part about high school sports is being with his teammates and making memories. He loves the competitiveness and is very passionate about the sports he plays. To Nick, agriculture is about hard work, dedication and family. He is passionate about the agriculture industry because it provides for our world. Nick is involved in football, wrestling, trap shooting, FFA and volunteers in numerous activities in the community.

Parker Nelson – Fosston, MN

Parker Nelson was nominated as Beck’s Player with Heart for his commitment and passion on and off the field. His favorite part about high school sports is spending time with teammates and making friends. He also enjoys working with and learning from the older athletes. As he gets older, he wants to inspire the younger athletes like the older athletes did for him. To Parker, agriculture is about working with family, friends and neighbors. He enjoys being outdoors and has learned to care for his family’s beef cattle. Parker is involved in football, wrestling, baseball, trap shooting, FFA, church youth group, Knight Riders Snowmobile Club, football tailgating and SGT Harmon Memorial Scholarship Motorcycle Ride and Breakfast. His future plans are to play college football and complete an education in Agricultural Instruction. He desires to become an ag teacher and FFA advisor.

Katelyn Soost – Nicollet, MN

Katelyn Soost was nominated as Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the field. Her favorite part about high school sports are the life lessons and the memories that come with them. After several injuries, she has learned that life doesn’t always go the way you planned. While sitting out because of her injuries, she learned that every moment counts and you can’t take them for granted. To Katelyn, agriculture is not just a hobby that you get to participate in, it’s a lifestyle. Sometimes it’s blood, sweat, tears, hard work and dedication every day. She was born into a 4-H livestock family and has been showing various animals for a large portion of her life. Katelyn is involved in volleyball, basketball, softball, band, pep band, NHS and student council. She is a Be Kind Ambassador, FFA president, 4-H president, a Tri County Fair Board member and part of a church youth group. Her future plans are to go to college for a career in agriculture or in the medical field.

Lydia Yost – St. Peter, MN

Lydia Yost was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the matt. Her favorite part about high school sports is the sisterly atmosphere. To Lydia, agriculture means working together. Everyone is working to provide, help and support the ecosystem, animals and human races. Farmers provide food and by-products that give us clothes and other things to help in our daily lives. Her grandparents are the reasons she fell in love with agriculture. She helps show cattle and sheep and competes in various events for FFA and 4-H. She is involved in swimming, gymnastics, FFA, band, 4-H, church youth group and volunteers in different ways in her church. Her future plans are to pursue something ag related.

Meleah Grundmeier – Kelliher, MN

Meleah Grundmeier was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the court. Her favorite part about high school sports is the friends that turn into family and making unforgettable memories. To Meleah, agriculture is a way of life. It is the clothes on our backs, the food we eat, the roof she lives under and is the backbone of her family. She is involved in basketball, trap shooting, FFA, NHS, Spanish club, student council, student government, choir, 4-H and is a TA for the kindergarten and second grade. She also helps a lot with her church and is involved in her youth group. Maleah’s future plans are to attend college to become a nurse practitioner or a physical education teacher.

Garrett Goihl – Lake city, MN

Garrett Goihl was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his commitment and passion on and off the field. His favorite part about high school sports is getting to compete with friends. To Garrett, agriculture means the work needed from everyone to provide for the community. He is 4-H president and is involved in football, FFA, Minnesota Junior Angus Association as well as the National Junior Angus Association. Garrett’s future plans are to follow in his brother’s footsteps and work at the local co-op while helping his father on the family farm with the intent to take it over in the future.

Carissa Hanson – Bricelyn, MN

Carissa Hanson was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the field. Her favorite part about high school sports is not only building a relationship with her teammates but learning different life skills. Carissa’s family does not have a traditional role in agriculture. They own and operate a greenhouse and the knowledge she has learned from helping has helped her on the FFA flower judging team. She is involved in FFA, FCCLA, concert band, pep band, marching band, school musical, softball, volleyball, student government and big rebel program. In her community she is apart of church group, co-coaches pitch and helps out with various fundraisers. Carissa’s future plans are to attend the University of Minnesota.

Noah Thompson – Windom, MN

Noah Thompson was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his commitment and passion on and off the field. His favorite part about high school sports is being around his teammates and coaches to make memories that will last forever. He also enjoys being a team member and encouraging everyone to do their best. To Noah, agriculture is the foundation of our food supply. Agriculture is the heart and soul of so many, whether grain farming or raising livestock. Agriculture is also a topic that needs to be taught to children and its importance to them as consumers. Noah is involved in NHS, FFA, football, basketball, baseball, track, 4-H, church group, choir and refs youth games. His future plans are to attend college and obtain a teaching degree in elementary education and ag education.

Conner Martens – Nicollet, MN

Conner Martens was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his commitment and passion on and off the court. His favorite part about high school sports is the struggle in sports because it really brings out the best in people and shows them who they are. It also brings the team together. To Conner, agriculture means family. When being in the ag industry, it takes a lot of support, effort and dedication. He is involved in NHS, choir, BE Kind, football, basketball and track. Conner’s future plans are to go to college for football and eventually take over his family farm.

Kathryn Pickett – Preston, MN

Kathryn Pickett was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the court. Her favorite thing about high school sports is getting to spend time with teammates while traveling for events. She has also learned good life lessons such as teamwork, respect, discipline and leadership. For Kathryn, agriculture means a connection to the world and your community. It takes a team effort to make agriculture work, teaching everyone hard work and dedication. Kathryn is involved in volleyball, basketball, track, bank, choir, tapestry, FFA, TNT, NHS, yearbook club, radio show, 4-H and other community events. After high school, Kathryn plans to attend a four-year college to study kinesiology or nursing.

Lucas Rybinski – Ivanhoe, MN

Lucas Rybinski was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his commitment and passion on and off the field. His favorite thing about high school sports is hanging out with his friends while pushing himself to be the best he can be. For Lucas, agriculture means a lot because farming goes back generations in his family. Agriculture takes a lot of work and time and teaches life lessons you can’t learn elsewhere. Lucas is involved in football, basketball, golf, FFA, 4-H and church. After high school, Lucas plans to go to school to become a diesel mechanic.

Lucey Minten – Perham, MN

Lucey Minten was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the field. Her favorite part about high school sports is spending time with friends, being active outside and traveling. To Lucey, agriculture is about providing food that the world needs to survive. Being the fourth generation of her family farm, she has learned that farming creates work ethic and family bonds that cannot be broken. Lucey is involved in FFA, Best Buddies, softball, tennis, speech, 4-H and Holy Cross Church. Lucey’s future plans are to continue to farm and become an ag educator.

Mikkel Steinert – Osakis, MN

Mikkel Steinert was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his commitment and passion on and off the field. His favorite part about high school sports is being able to bond with classmates outside a regular classroom. To Mikkel, agriculture is a lifestyle that only those who have worked or lived on a farm can understand. Farmers will do so much work and spend so much money trying to help feed the world while only getting a small portion of money back that will go straight back into buying next year’s seed, fertilizer, and machinery related expenses. Mikkel is involved in football, track & field, FFA, trap shooting, pep band, CrossFit and serves in his community by assisting the Osakis VFW Post 7902 with placing flags before Memorial Day and holiday reefs before Christmas. Mikkel’s future plans are to go to CLC in Staples and have a profession in heavy machinery operation.

Daisie Pramann – Clearwater, MN

Daisie Pramann was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the court. Her favorite part about high school sports is the memories she has made with her teammates. She also loves seeing the student section and community get hyped during games. To Daisie, agriculture is who she is. Daisie has grown up around agriculture, saying it is a lifestyle, commitment, sacrifice and takes hard work. Daisie is involved in volleyball, FFA and is a basketball manager. Her future plans are to attend SDSU to study animal science or something ag related.

Sawyer DeSmet – Minnesota City, MN

Sawyer DeSmet was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his commitment and passion on and off the field. His favorite part about high school sports is the opportunity to put the stresses of everyday life aside. Running out onto the field on a Friday night is an incredible feeling. When he is with his teammates in the huddle and can see his parents in the stands, everything else seems to fade away and the only thing that matters is the next snap. To Sawyer, agriculture has played a huge role in his life. Agriculture has taught him so many lessons throughout the years, with the most important one being how to have a strong work ethic. Farming has created a foundation of values for Sawyer that he will continue to build upon in the future. Sawyer is involved in football, basketball and FFA. Sawyer is very active in his church, having gone on two mission trips and helping to serve meals. He also helps coach youth flag football. His future plans are to attend SDSU for Animal Science. Following SDSU he plans to attend vet school and become a large breed veterinarian.

Cole Schlueter – Janesville, MN

Cole Schlueter was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his commitment and passion on and off the field. His favorite part about high school sports is being able to hang out with and make new friends. He also enjoys winning. To Cole, agriculture is about communities, families and companies making a living off of something they are growing or producing. Cole is involved in basketball, football, FFA and 4-H. His future plans are go to lineman school.

Hazle Rosenau – Moose Lake, MN

Hazle Rosenau was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the court. Her favorite part about high school sports is the competition in a team sport environment. She loves her teammates, coaches and enjoys always working to improve herself. To Hazle, agriculture means feeding the world and supporting families and communities. She is involved in volleyball, basketball, softball and is a part of the Carlton County Fair. Hazle is hoping she can continue to play volleyball in college but is unsure on a major and school.

Mykela Hanson – St James, MN

Mykela Hanson was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the field. Her favorite part about high school sports is bonding with her teammates and the challenge of competing at a high level. She also enjoys being a positive roll model for younger athletes. To Mykela, agriculture means hard work, family time and a love of animals. It’s a key industry in our community and is crucial to the well-being of our world. She is involved in tennis, National Honor Society, choir, band, softball, FFA, Limited Edition, Madrigals, theater, 4-H and church youth group. After graduation, Mykela plans to attend college and pursue her dream of becoming a large animal veterinarian. She also wants to grow her dairy herd.

Sam Pidde, Comfrey, MN

Sam Pidde was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his commitment and passion on and off the field. His favorite part about high school sports is playing with his friends as well as forming new relationships with other players. To Sam, agriculture is a very important part of his life. Without the hard work and efforts of the agriculture community in his hometown, it would not be what it is today. He is very appreciative of all the hard work that goes into farming. Sam is involved in football, baseball, cross country, basketball, student council, TA, band, jazz band, trap shooting, class VP, youth football coach, and church youth group fundraising. Sam is undecided on what he wants to do after he graduates, however he is certain he wants to continue to play sports. 

Sami Tiede, Le Center, MN

Sami Tiede was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the court. Her favorite part about high school sports is bonding with her teammates and making memories. To Sami agriculture means hard work. Working in the agriculture industry takes a lot of time and back breaking labor. Sami is involved in tennis, FFA, art team, NHS, musical, basketball, is an American Dairy Association Ambassador and sings for her church. Once she graduates, Sami plans to attend a four-year college and major in marketing or elementary education. 

Cody Wichmann, Balaton, MN

Cody Wichmann was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his commitment and passion on and off the field. His favorite part about high school sports is being able to play a game he loves alongside his friends. Agriculture is Cody’s family’s way of life. They have been farming crops and raising cattle and swine for a living. Cody is involved in baseball, basketball, football, TA, 4-H and helps with various youth sports. When Cody graduates, he plans to go to Southwest Minnesota State University to study physical education and continue his baseball career. 

Tristyn Maras, Windom, MN

Tristyn Maras was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the court. Her favorite part about high school sports is spending time with her teammates and building not only athletic skills, but relationship skills as well. She will always cherish the memories she has made through sports. Tristyn also enjoys the chance to be a good role model to younger kids who watch her compete. Agriculture is the backbone of Tristyn’s family, her community, and the world. She feels very fortunate and lucky to have grown up on a farm and tries not to take it for granted. Tristyn is involved in volleyball, cheer, basketball, softball, speech, student government, band, choir, dance, FFA, 4-H, and volunteers at many different community activities. Once Tristyn graduates she hopes to continue to play volleyball in college and major in exercise science. 

Wyatt Luhmann, Granada, MN

Wyatt Luhmann was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his commitment and passion on and off the field/court/green. His favorite part about high school sports is the overall feeling of being on the field or court and getting to play in front of the community. Wyatt has been involved with agriculture his whole life and hopes to always be involved in it. He believes farming is not something people should take for granted as farmers put food on everyone’s tables. Wyatt is involved in soccer, basketball, golf, 4-H, and his church’s youth group. After graduation, Wyatt hopes to continue a career with farm equipment. He is currently in an internship that he loves where he gets to work on farm equipment and would like to stay with that company or go somewhere similar. 

Maverick Weber – Franklin, MN

Maverick Weber was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his efforts on and off the field. His favorite part about high school sports is the competitiveness and family aspect of his team. To Maverick, agriculture provides ample opportunities to learn. He has been able to learn work ethic and improve problem solving skills from agriculture and apply them to his everyday life. Maverick is involved in football, trapshooting, FFA, NHS, Little Crow Ski Team, and We Care. After graduation, Maverick plans to attend MSU Mankato for a degree in civil engineering. 

Chisum Schmiedeberg, Lancaster, MN

Chisum Schmiedeberg was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his efforts on and off the field. His favorite part about high school sports is getting to play with his friends and building bonds and memories that will last a lifetime. To Chisum, agriculture and farming are more than just jobs, they are a lifestyle. They are not easy jobs either, but jobs that require a lot of hard work and dedication. Chisum is involved in football, basketball, baseball, trap shooting, student council, and 4-H. As of right now Chisum is not sure what he wants to do after high school, but he is excited for what the future holds. 

Samantha Untiedt, Okabena, MN

Samantha Untiedt was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the court. Her favorite part about high school sports is being able to meet new people from neighboring schools and building relationships with them. She also loves playing and growing with her teammates alongside her. To Samantha, agriculture is the gift that keeps on giving. Agriculture has provided her and many other people in her community with opportunities and has taught her a multitude of life lessons, which formed her into who she is today. Samantha is involved in volleyball, band, Student Council, class president, FFA, food science, VBS teacher, elementary mentor, and Minnesota Honor Society member. After graduation, Samantha plans to play volleyball at South Dakota State University while studying human biology. 

Thatcher Bochmann – Rochester, MN

Thatcher Bochmann was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his efforts on and off the field. Thatcher’s favorite thing about high school sports is getting to play the sport he loves with his best friends while the whole school is there to support them. To Thatcher, agriculture is what our country is built upon and it’s important we all recognize that and make sure those in agriculture are supported for the future. Thatcher is involved in football and track. He also participates in community activities such as volunteering at a local catering service and food bank, doing a yearly “Friends for the Poor” walk with his football team, and helping at his church. After graduation, Thatcher hope to stay involved with farming and pass his appreciation for agriculture on to future generations. 

Eva Moore, Osakis, MN

Eva Moore was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her efforts on and off the court. Eva’s favorite thing about high school sports is friendships she has made with her teammates and the team bonding activities they have done. Agriculture means a lot to Eva as she has grown up on a family farm and learned the importance of what they do and how tough but rewarding agriculture can be. Eva is involved in volleyball, FFA, and youth group, and volunteers in many community activities such as packing Christmas boxes for Operation Christmas child, leading at VBS, teaching agriculture lessons to kids at the Learning Tree, and serving Thanksgiving dinner at the community center. After graduation, Eva plans to attend NDSU for a double major in agronomy and ag business. She would like to become an agronomist and continue helping with her family farm operations. 

Jake Jackson, Sanborn, MN 

Jake Jackson was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her efforts on and off the field and court. Jake’s favorite thing about high school sports is the connections he’s made with his teammates and the memories that will last a lifetime. Agriculture means a lot to Jake as he grows up on a family farm where he gets to work with family members. Jake is involved in football, basketball, baseball, FFA, Cottonwood County Beef Ambassadors, and Germantown Live Wires 4-H Club. 

Vince Vander Kooi, Worthington, MN

Vince Vander Kooi was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his efforts on and off the field. Vince’s favorite thing about high school sports is the adrenaline, competitive nature, and sportsmanship of everyone involved. To Vince, agriculture is more than just a job, you have to have a true passion for it. Vince is involved in football, FFA, and 4-H, and partakes in many community service activities. After graduation, Vince would like to attend college for something ag related, then return to his family farm. 

Jocelyn Mann, Saint Paul, MN

Jocelyn Mann was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her efforts on and off the field/court. Jocelyn’s favorite thing about high school sports are the bonds she has created with her teammates and coaches. To Jocelyn, agriculture is everything we could need, meaning without agriculture, we wouldn’t have food or clothes and she wouldn’t be living the life she has if she didn’t have agriculture. Jocelyn is involved in basketball, soccer, FFA, Black Student Union, and Student Council, and is working to create a peer tutoring program. She is also involved with community ethic steering program and works to build and maintain the school garden and gardens around the twin cities. After graduation, Jocelyn plans to become an architect with emphasis in interior and landscape design. 

Beth Holst, Kellogg, MN

Beth Holst was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her efforts on and off the court. Beth’s favorite thing about high school sports is being able to connect with players of all ages. To Beth, agriculture means the future, we will always need it. The greatest thing about agriculture is that it’s for anyone, it doesn’t matter your background. Beth is involved in volleyball, FFA, and 4-H, and is a religion teacher at her church. After graduation, Beth wants to get a degree in criminal justice and use it serving her community. While that wouldn’t pertain to agriculture, she still wants to own cattle and help on her family’s farm. 

William Serbus, Kimball, MN

William Serbus was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his efforts on and off the field/mat. William’s favorite thing about high school sports is spending time with his teammates. To William, agriculture means spending time outdoors with his family and working to help change the beef industry for the better. William is involved in football, wrestling, baseball, trapshooting, and FFA. He is also an Eagle Scout, has his black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and volunteers with the local fire department, at his church, and at other community events. After graduation, William plans to go to college for some type of irrigational plumbing so that he can use that education on their family farm. 

Claire Metzger, Elizabeth, MN

Claire Metzger was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her efforts on and off the field. Claire’s favorite thing about high school sports is the sense of belonging and encouragement she receives from her teammates. To Claire, agriculture means educating others on where their food comes from. Claire is involved in volleyball, FFA, Student Council, youth group, and 4-H, and she’s a member of Fergus Falls Saddle Club and Minnesota High School Rodeo (MNHSRA). Claire has always loved animals and goats, so after graduation, she plans to become a large animal vet that specializes in reproductive health. 

JJ O’Reilly, Goodhue, MN

JJ O’Reilly was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his efforts on and off the field. JJ’s favorite part of high school sports is competing with his friends and having a fun time doing the things they love. To JJ, agriculture means security. Knowing that he can wake up and have food and produce helped him to understand the importance of agriculture. JJ is involved in FFA, football, wrestling, as well as his local community corn drive. After he graduates, JJ plans to work full time on his family’s dairy farm. 

Claire Hoffman, Rushmore, MN

Claire Hoffman was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her efforts on and off the field. Her favorite thing about high school sports is playing as a team. When things are going well the team can celebrate and when things are rough the team is there for each other. Agriculture to Claire means sacrifice. Living on a farm means sacrificing a lot of time and energy. Claire is involved in softball, basketball, football stats, national honor society, Spanish club, band, FFA, 4-H, and youth group. When she graduates, she plans to attend South Dakota State University and study ag business.

Catherine Fank, Olivia, MN

Catherine Fank was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her efforts on and off the court. Her favorite thing about high school sports is working together as a team and giving it your all. She enjoys the competition as well. To Catherine agriculture means a world of possibilities. Pretty much everything in our world relates to agriculture in one way or another so without it the world couldn’t operate. Catherine is involved in basketball, track, FFA, math league, and student council. Catherine’s future plans are to continue to grow her goat herd.
