Behind the Scenes

Ohio week-end

Brownfield’s Ohio Farm Director Dave Russell updates us on his week-end:

Driving to the Ohio Cattlemen’s Roundup at Wooster on Saturday I began noticing tent caterpillars heading east on Route 30.

Saw a lot of marestail along roadsides.

Kudo’s to Dr. Ron Kensinger, head of the Animal Sciences Department at the Ohio State University for being able to focus on his remarks to the Ohio Cattlemen’s Roundup as a bat darted around the room.

Speaking of the bat darting around the conference room, I’m not sure who moved quicker, Elizabeth Harsh, Executive Director of the Ohio Cattlemen’s Association, or OCA President Sam Sutherly when it flew past them. Still trying to figure out if it was Elizabeth or Sam that squeeled.

On a 20 mile bike ride on Sunday I did not see one wooly worm on the Heritage Trail, but I did see this piece of rustic beauty.
