An effort to help alleviate the egg shortage

Highly pathogenic avian influenza continues to strain the nation’s egg supply and is shooting egg prices through the roof. Efforts are being considered that could help address both issues. 

The National Chicken Council has petitioned the Food & Drug Administration to modify a regulation that forces the broiler industry (chickens that are raised for meat) to discard eggs that are safe to eat.
