Our diet’s role in helping fend off the flu

Can diet help prevent influenza? Denise Holston of Louisiana State University Extension Building says a child’s immune system through a healthier diet may help prevent a case of the seasonal respiratory flu. Well-balanced diets of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, protein and calcium provide health boosting phyto-nutrients and immunity building.  However, flu shots are recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for everyone over five months of age.
