Grower group says apples are SAFE to eat

A group that represents fruit and vegetable producers says an environmental group is needlessly trying to scare consumers about eating apples. Marilyn Dolan with the non-profit Alliance for Food and Farming says the Environmental Working Group (EWG) is trying to drum up interest in its upcoming guide on pesticides in produce.  She says the DPA compound that group targets is completely safe and the health benefits of eating apples and a variety of fruits and vegetables is shown to reduce the risk of diseases including cancers.  And, she says, that’s true for apples that are organically AND conventionally grown.
