Healthy school meals “go a little too far”

Two years ago, the US government required school cafeterias to offer healthier foods and reduce the unhealthy ones.  Diane Pratt-Heavner, spokesperson for the School Nutrition Association, says they are asking Congress for help in meeting the regulations because participation by students at meals is going down while meal costs are going up and there’s a lot of food going to waste.  In addition, she says the USDA has begun to offer some flexibility on whole grains.
