How GLP-1s can impact protein consumption
Research shows that glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (or GLP-1s – think Ozempic or similar medications) are changing how consumers shop for groceries.
Glynn Tonsor with Kansas State University says that’s an area where the Meat Demand Monitor, a monthly online survey funded by the beef and pork checkoffs that track U.S. consumer preferences, views, and demand for meat in retail and foodservice sectors, is doing some research. Tonsor says that of the more than 16,000 respondents, around 14 percent indicated they were currently taking a GLP-1. In this episode, we start to dig into some of the findings.
