Inspection of ground beef to increase

What’s being done to prevent E. coli and salmonella from ruining your backyard barbeque?  The answer is two-fold.  It involves federal inspectors and home grillers.  The US Department of Agriculture says its food safey inspectors are going to “double up” on ground been testing this summer. As part of their Samonella Action Plan they will be testing not only for E. coli but also for Salmonella every time they test for E. coli.  Backyard grillers are encouraged by the Food Safety Inspection Service to cook ground beef to the proper internal temperature which will kill both E. coli and Salmonella bacteria which can lead to sickness.
