Organic foods may also be treated with chemicals

Choosing organic and non-organic foods.  At a Food Dialogues event, Missouri organic grower Jim Thomas and former president of the Missouri Organic Association said being certified organic means having no chemicals in the soil in which one grows organic food. Missouri Farm Bureau president Blake Hurst, however, said because a food is organic does not mean it has not been treated with a pesticide or fungicide.
