Why pork prices are rising

The pork industry is dealing with a disease affecting baby pigs that does NOT affect human health but will have an impact on the price of pork.   Fewer pigs to market translates into higher prices for remaining pigs.  Chris Novak, the CEO of the National Pork Board, says knowing that prices have gone up since last fall and will go higher this summer — the board is working on some special sales promotions with retail stores to benefit consumers.
