The final step in the food safety guidelines is CHILL. 

Archie Magoulas, a food safety expert with the USDA’s Meat and Poultry Hotline says following safe food preparation (which includes the three previous steps of clean, separate, and cook), it’s critical to refrigerate any leftovers promptly.
