Snacking and the risks of tooth decay
More and more Americans are snacking more and more often – so what’s that doing to dental health? We’re eating on the go, at our desks, between appointments – eating off and on all day long – and that means our teeth are exposed to a lot of foods throughout the day. The University of Iowa’s Preventive Dentistry Department says the more sugars and starches we eat, the more they turn into fermented bacteria in our mouths and that bacteria produces acid which can lead to tooth decay.
