Iowa AgriTech Accelerator boosts Krobel Corp. technology
The Iowa AgriTech Accelerator completed its second annual program last month with five companies demonstrating their mentored innovation projects to the public.
Krobel Corp. of Mankato, Minnesota graduated from the 2018 program.
“The Iowa AgriTech Accelerator has been absolutely the key to our success so far. The biggest thing is the mentor network that they have hooked us up with. They have a vast array of networks that are continuously available to us.”
Kenny Strobel and Ryan Kruse, students at Minnesota State University, are the founders of Krobel Corp., where they are designing a sow farrowing notification system triggered by body heat.
“In mid-November we expect the development firm to finish the first fully functional prototype. We are going to engage in pilot testing with some area show pig farms and then pushing into early 2019 we are going to start an investment round to push towards that commercial ready product.”
Other graduates from this year’s accelerator program include U.S. Design Consultants (Osceola, IA) and AgHelp (Grand Rapids, MI). Applications for the 2019 program will be available January 7th.
Brownfield interviewed Strobel and Kruse at the World Food Prize Forum in Des Moines last month.
