CME cash dairy prices higher

Cash dairy prices were higher midweek on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange supported somewhat by strong global markets.

Dry whey up $0.01 at $0.4750. Two trades were made at $0.4725 and $0.4750.

Blocks up $0.03 at $1.80. Seven trades were made from $1.78 to $1.80.

Barrels up $0.06 at $1.90. One trade was made at that price.

Butter up $0.0025 at $2.35. Nineteen trades were made from $2.35 to $2.36.

Nonfat dry milk unchanged at $1.1675.

The Global Dairy Trade index in New Zealand on Tuesday posted another gain, up nearly two percent. Lactose saw a significant increase, up 22 percent, followed by mozzarella and whole milk powder. Skim milk powder was down 2.3 percent and cheddar dropped 1.8 percent.
