CME cash dairy prices mixed

Cash dairy prices were mixed on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange on Wednesday, with weaker global prices offset by strong butter demand.

Dry whey unchanged at $0.5625.

Blocks unchanged at $1.9375.

Barrels up $0.0025 at $1.8425. One sale was made at that price.

Butter up $0.06 at $2.56. Twenty-five trades were made from $2.5450 to $2.56.

Nonfat dry milk down $0.0050 at $1.2725. One sale was made at that price.

The Global Dairy Trade index in New Zealand on Tuesday continued its negative streak for the second trading event, down 1.6 percent. Butter milk powder led the categories lower, down more than 6 percent, followed by cheddar and whole milk powder. Mozzarella and anhydrous milk fat posted the only gains for the week.
