CME milk futures, cash dairy steady to lower Thursday

Milk futures and the cash dairy markets were steady to lower again Thursday on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. 

April Class III milk was down $0.43 at $15.74.  May was down $0.23 at $16.25.  June was down $0.30 at $16.99.  July was down $0.27 at $17.77.  

August through February contracts ranged from unchanged in January and February to twenty-seven cents lower in September.  Thursday’s Class III trade volume was higher with 2,232 contracts. 

Dry whey was unchanged at $0.4050.  No sales were recorded. 

Forty-pound cheese blocks were down $0.0525 at $1.3975.  There were sixteen offers but only seven sales were recorded, ranging from $1.3925 to $1.41. 

Cheese barrels were down $0.0250 at $1.47. No sales were recorded. 

Butter was down $0.0175 at $2.82.  One sale was recorded at that price. 

Nonfat dry milk was down $0.01 at $1.1075.   Four sales were recorded, ranging from $1.1075 to $1.1225.
