CME milk futures lower, butter gains value in cash dairy market
Milk futures were lower and cash dairy markets were mixed Thursday on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.
October Class III milk was down $0.09 at $16.71. November was down $0.05 at $16.90. December was down $0.008 at $17.32. January was down $0.09 at $17.90. February through August contracts ranged from unchanged from June through August to fourteen cents lower in March.
Dry whey was up $0.01 at $0.2950. Sixteen sales were recorded at that price.
Forty-pound cheese blocks were down $0.0350 at $1.72. No sale were recorded.
Cheese barrels were down $0.05 at $1.47. Nine sales were recorded, ranging from $1.47 to $1.4950.
Butter was up again, gaining $0.0350 at $3.3350. The butter market has gained thirty-seven cents since Thursday of last week. Four sales were recorded Thursday, ranging from $3.3325 to $3.3350.
Nonfat dry milk was up $0.0050 at $1.1825. No sales were recorded.
