CME milk futures lower, cash dairy mixed Tuesday

Milk futures were lower and the cash dairy markets were mixed Tuesday on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. 

March Class III milk was down $0.30 at $17.28.  April was down $0.44 at $17.56.  May was down $0.41 at $17.84.  June was down $0.44 at $18.16.  

July through January contracts ranged from unchanged in December and January to thirty-eight cents lower in July.  Tuesday’s Class III trade volume was 1,772 contracts. 

Dry whey was down $0.0450 at $0.4525.  One sale was recorded at that price. 

Forty-pound cheese blocks were up $0.02 at $1.61.  Two sales were recorded at $1.61 and $1.6175. 

Cheese barrels were unchanged at $1.67.  Four sales were recorded, ranging from $1.67 to $1.6725. 

Butter was down $0.0150 at $2.8350.  Two sales were recorded at $2.8325 and $2.8350. 

Nonfat dry milk was down $0.0175 at $1.18.   No sales were recorded.
