$10 million available for drought-stricken Ohio farmers

The Ohio Department of Agriculture has announced $10 million is available from the state for farmers impacted by extreme drought last year.

USDA declared 28 counties in the state as primary natural disaster areas following a nearly month-long drought between August and September.

In December, the governor approved additional funding for producers, Senate 54, as part of Ohio’s lame-duck session.

Farmers can apply for assistance through their local soil and water conservation districts from through until April 1.

Livestock producers in disaster areas can also apply for assistance through USDA’s Livestock Forage Disaster Program.
