13% of Indiana corn, 17% of soybeans harvested

The USDA says abnormally warm weather helped assist corn dry down last week in Indiana, but harvest pace was behind the five-year average.

Thirteen percent of Indiana corn has been harvested, behind last year’s pace of 15% percent and the five-year average of 19%. Sixty-nine percent of the crop is mature and 97% is dented.

Seventeen percent of soybeans have been harvested in the state, down from 20% on average, with 80% of the crop dropping leaves.

USDA says the state’s winter wheat planting is 11% complete with 3% of the crop emerged.
