Farmer Veteran fellowships available
The Farmer Veteran Coalition is offering fellowships to veterans that are beginning farmers or ranchers.
Adam Ingrao, executive director of the Farmer Veteran Coalition of Michigan and former fellowship winner, says veterans can apply for the fellowship each year. “This program allows veterans to apply for a $3,000 to $5,000 fellowship, which is essentially a grant, for and on farm project to help increase their business capacity.” He tells Brownfield the fellowship helped him move several years ahead in his farm’s business plan.
Ingrao says the Farmer Veteran Coalition also offers members business and legal services, and a Homegrown by Heros labeling program to help market veteran grown products.
The current fellowship application period is open through February 1st.
