Donnelly named Friend of Farmers

IMG_0363Indiana corn and soybean farmers honored Senator Joe Donnelly for his support of Indiana agriculture with its inaugural “Friend of Farmers” award.

Indiana Soybean Alliance director Kevin Wilson of Walton says Indiana farmers have been lucky to work with someone in Washington, DC that recognizes the issues important to agriculture.

“All of the time we’ve had issues, we either get in touch with him or someone in his office,” he says.  “Right away he sits and listens to us and tries to understand what it is we’re looking for help in getting an issue solved or an issue that is an unfair disadvantage for us.”

Donnelly says working on behalf of agriculture is one of the most important parts of his job.  “When you think of Indiana you think of agriculture,” he says.  “You think of an amazing agricultural tradition that leads in technology, leads in the incredible men and women who are the heart and soul of this.  Nobody has more common sense than Indiana farmers.”

He tells Brownfield Indiana is one of the country’s leading agricultural states and he’s working to ensure farmers are treated fairly.
