2025 growing season decisions

Some Iowa farmers say they’ve already started making decisions for the 2025 growing season.

Clarinda farmer Lee Brooke tells Brownfield, “It seems to be anymore it’s already started before we even get harvest going,” he said. “We booked our anhydrous and we’re coming up on some dates for seed.”

Duane Aistrope of Randolph says most of his inputs are booked and he’s got his crop rotations set. “The 50/50 corn and bean rotation. I guess I do have one farm where we’re going back corn on corn.”

But Imogene farmer Dave McGargill says he’s a few months out from beginning that process. “We typically like to wait until December or January once we get all of the data from harvest and see what performs best for us.”

The farmers said this year’s harvest has exceeded expectations so far.
