2025 shipping going well so far

A cooperative leader says so far, the flow of agricultural products is going smoothly this spring.

Joshua Grunnet with Alcivia Cooperative tells Brownfield they’ve been able to move fertilizer all winter. “We’ll take inbound rail and we’ll take as much as we can off the Illinois River.”

Grunnet says when marketing grain, having access to the river system and multiple Class I railroads gives them the ability to go in different directions when selling commodities. “We have to get our grain to whatever market needs it the most, so we do have a mixed bag of destinations. We’ll ship to the PNW (Pacific Northwest) or to the center gulf with grains, just depending on what the supply chain looks like.”

Alcivia Cooperative will be sending its first shuttle train of corn from their new Hager City, Wisconsin facility in April.
