22% of Ohio corn, 17% of soybeans planted

Ohio farmers continued planting as conditions allowed, but rain slowed progress, according to the latest USDA crop progress and condition report.

Twenty-two percent of the state’s corn crop is planted, compared to the five-year average of 18 percent. Four percent of the crop has emerged.

Seventeen percent of soybeans in Ohio are planted. Four percent of the crop has emerged.

Eighty-one percent of winter wheat is rated good to excellent.
