29% of Arkansas soybeans harvested

Arkansas farmers made some good harvest progress on soybeans last week.

USDA says as of Sunday 29% of the crop has been harvested, well ahead of the five-year average pace of 10%. Sixty-six percent of the crop is dropping leaves.

The cotton harvest got underway and 3% of the crop has been harvested, near the five-year average of 1%, with 92% of bolls opening.

Rice harvest reached 68% completion, ahead of the five-year average of 40%.

USDA says some farmers got started on winter wheat planting with just 1% of the crop planted as of Sunday.
