42% of Michigan corn, 31% of soybeans planted

Wet conditions continue to slow planting progress in Michigan.

Corn is 42 percent planted, compared to 78 percent a year ago and the five-year average of 87 percent.

Soybeans are 31 percent planted, compared to 62 percent a year ago and the five-year average of 73 percent.

According to the USDA, sweet corn and snap beans made good progress and cucumbers, squash, and zucchini were being seeded as weather allowed.
