45% of Ohio corn, 54% of soybeans rated good to excellent

Cooler than normal temperatures and dry conditions continued last week in Ohio.

The USDA says corn conditions fell slightly with 45 percent of the crop being rated good to excellent. Soybeans held steady at 54 percent good to excellent.

Eighty-one percent of the corn crop is in the dough stage and 21 percent is dented. Ninety-three percent of the soybean crop is setting pods and two percent is dropping leaves.

The third cutting of alfalfa hay is 76 percent complete and the third cutting of other hay is 57 percent complete.
