49% of Ohio corn, 55% of soybeans good to excellent

The USDA says rain and cooler temperatures provided some relief to crops in Ohio last week.

The condition rating for corn improved some and is 49 percent good to excellent. Soybeans held steady at 55 percent good to excellent.

Ninety-five percent of corn is in the dough stage, 57 percent is dented, and five percent of the crop is mature. 

Seventeen percent of soybeans are dropping leaves.

The third cutting of alfalfa hay is 89 percent and the third cutting of other hay is 74 percent complete.
