60% of corn, 34% of sunflowers harvested in SD

South Dakota producers continue to make progress with corn, soybeans, sorghum and sunflower harvest.

USDA says 60% of the state’s corn is harvested, behind this time last year, but in-line with the average. Sorghum harvest is 77% complete, in-line with last year. Sunflower harvest is 34% complete, well behind this time last year.

Soybean harvest is getting closer to completion at 94% harvested. Most of the winter wheat has been planted with 79% of the crop emerged.

South Dakota’s pasture and rangeland conditions are rated 53% short to very short.
