60% of Michigan soybeans rated good to excellent

The USDA says timely rainfall aided grain fill last week in Michigan.

Fifty-four percent of the state’s corn is rated good to excellent, with 89 percent silking, 47 percent at the dough making stage, and 15 percent dented.

Sixty percent of soybeans are rated good to excellent, with 88 percent blooming and 79 percent at the pod setting stage.

Michigan’s dry edible beans are rated 50 percent and sugarbeets are rated 51 percent good to excellent.

The second cutting of alfalfa hay is 81 percent, and the third cutting is 55 percent complete.
