60% of U.S. corn, 61% of soybeans good to excellent

U.S. crop condition ratings mostly declined over the past week. Last week was another generally mixed week of weather, near ideal in some areas, dry in others, and excessively wet in parts of the region.

The USDA says 60% of U.S. corn is rated good to excellent, down 1%, with 97% of the crop silking, 76% at the dough making stage, 29% dented, and 4% mature.

61% of soybeans are good to excellent, 1% lower, and 96% are blooming with 85% at the pod setting stage.

96% of winter wheat is harvested, compared to the five-year average of 94%.

52% of spring wheat is called good to excellent, 1% higher, and 41% is harvested, compared to 34% on average.

38% of cotton is reported as good to excellent, a decline of 2%, and 97% is squaring, with 74% setting bolls and 14% of bolls opening.

70% of rice is in good to excellent shape, a dip of 1%, and 94% has headed with 20% harvested, both ahead of most recent years.

28% of sorghum is in good to excellent condition, a drop of 7%, with 73% headed and 36% turning color, while 16% of the crop has reached maturity.

23% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are good to excellent, down 2%, with 48% in poor to very poor shape, up 1%.
