66% of Indiana corn, 68% of soybeans rated good to excellent

The USDA says cooler than normal temperatures and scattered rainfall helped maintain soil moisture levels last week in Indiana.

Sixty-six percent of the state’s corn crop is in good to excellent condition, with 97 percent silking, 71 percent at the dough making stage, and 12 percent dented.

Soybeans held steady with 68 percent being rated good to excellent. Ninety-four percent of the crop is blooming, and 80 percent at the pod setting stage.

Range and pasture conditions in the state improved to 55 percent good to excellent.
