67% of Indiana corn, 70% of soybeans rated good to excellent

The USDA says soil moisture levels remained adequate for many Hoosier farmers despite an abnormally hot week last week in Indiana.

Topsoil moisture was 71 percent adequate and subsoil moisture was 66 percent adequate.

Sixty-seven percent of the state’s corn crop is in good to excellent condition, with 82 percent at the dough making stage, and 32 percent dented.

Seventy percent of soybeans are rated good to excellent, with 95 percent of the crop blooming, and 88 percent at the pod setting stage.

Range and pasture conditions in the state declined to 50 percent good to excellent.
