67% of U.S. corn, 64% of soybeans good to excellent

The USDA’s national corn condition rating held over the past week as soybeans dipped slightly. The region saw another wide-ranging week of weather, including high temperatures and flooding, which might not be fully reflected until next week’s update.

67% of U.S. corn is in good to excellent condition, steady, with 16% of the crop silking and 3% at the dough making stage.

64% of soybeans are good to excellent, down 1%, with 34% blooming and 9% of the crop setting pods.

59% of winter wheat is harvested, ahead of the five-year average, and 47% of the crop is poor to very poor.

57% of spring wheat is rated good to excellent, 2% lower, with 54% headed.

36% of cotton is in good to excellent shape, a decline of 2%, and 14% of the crop is setting bolls.

64% of the rice crop is reported as good to excellent, unchanged, but with 2% moving from good to excellent, and 26% of the crop is headed.

50% of sorghum is said to be good to excellent, dipping 2%, as 97% is planted and 25% has headed.

33% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are good to excellent as of Sunday, 1% under the prior week.

The USDA’s weekly national crop progress and condition reports will run through the end of November.
