69% of U.S. corn, 65% of soybeans rated good to excellent

U.S. corn and soybean condition ratings dipped slightly last week.

The USDA says as of Sunday that 69% of U.S. corn is in good to excellent condition, down 2% from the previous week, with 15% of the crop mature and 58% dented.

U.S. soybeans are rated 65% good to excellent, down 4% on the week, with 11% of the crop dropping leaves and 94% setting pods.

The spring wheat harvest is 72% finished, one percentage point ahead of the five-year average.

Cotton is rated 51% good to excellent, down 3% on the week, with 28% of bolls opening.

The rice harvest is at 33% completion, up 6% from the five-year average. 76% of the crop is in good to excellent shape.

17% of U.S. sorghum has been harvested, below the average pace, with 28% of the crop mature.

U.S. pastures and rangelands are reported as 38% good to excellent, a 1% improvement from the previous week.

The USDA’s weekly national crop progress and condition numbers run through the end of November.
