82% of South Dakota corn, 97% of soybeans harvested

South Dakota’s corn and soybean harvests are nearing the finish line.

The USDA says 82% of the state’s corn crop has been harvested, ahead of the five-year average of 52%.

Ninety-seven percent of soybeans are harvested.

The state’s sunflower harvest is 60% complete, ahead of the five-year average of 39%, while the sorghum harvest is 78% done.

USDA says winter wheat is 99% planted, in line with the average pace. Sixty-eight percent of the crop has emerged.

Pasture and range conditions are rated 13% good-to-excellent.
