85% of Kansas corn, 55% of soybeans planted

Corn and soybean planting remains ahead of the average pace in Kansas.

USDA says as of Sunday 85% of the state’s expected corn crop has been planted, ahead of the five-year average of 80%, with 68% of the crop emerged.

Soybeans planted is at 55% in the state, ahead of the five-year average of 50%, with 34% of the crop emerged.

The state’s winter wheat crop has been rated as 32% good to excellent with 94% of the crop headed.

Sunflowers are 16% planted across the state, ahead of the five-year average of 13%.
