97% of Indiana corn, 95% of soybeans planted

The USDA says excellent conditions spurred corn and soybean planting progress last week in Indiana.

Ninety-seven percent of the state’s corn crop is planted, 85 percent of the crop has emerged, and 62 percent is rated good to excellent.

Soybean planting is 95 percent complete. Seventy-eight percent of the crop has emerged and is rated 62 percent good to excellent.

The fist cutting of alfalfa hay is 85 percent complete. The first cutting of other hay is 75 percent complete.
