A “glimmer of good news” for some in June weather outlook

USDA’s meteorologist says the weather forecast for June 5th through 11th brings a glimmer of good news to parts of the Midwest.

Brad Rippey says dryer than normal conditions are expected across the northern Corn Belt, through the Great Lakes region and into parts of the North East, but rainfall will continue in the southern two-thirds of the US.

“This would include the southern Corn Belt and the central and southern plains: areas where rainfall is not needed.”

Rippey says the forecast predicts near or above normal temperatures across most of the country, but the recent cooler weather will remain in some areas.

“We do expect some lingering chilly conditions in parts of the Great Lakes region. Also, some below normal temperatures across the southernmost portions of the plains.”

Weather patterns will play a major role in planting decisions in the coming weeks.
