A year in review
A western Indiana farmer says he wrapped up the 2024 harvest season this past weekend.
Kevin Cox says he was pleasantly surprised with the yields.
“We probably wound up with the top five crop, which as low as commodity prices have been and as high as inputs are, that’s definitely what you need is a good crop in a low price environment, so that helped us out,” he says.
He tells Brownfield earlier planted crops performed better.
“This was a year that the replant ended up not being a whole lot better, if any better than what the stuff that was thinner than what I would have liked it to have been,” he says. “But I think it went ahead and yielded because of the early rain.”
Cox says other farmers in his area have also finished harvest, or are nearing completion.
