ACE optimistic about 45Z longevity

The American Coalition for Ethanol is hopeful sustainable aviation fuel tax credits will continue under the next administration.

CEO Brian Jennings says there is concern President-elect Trump will do away with Inflation Reduction Act policies, including the 45Z tax credit.

“We believe Speaker Johnson when he says that the Republican Congress is going to use a scalpel, not a sledgehammer in terms of looking at the IRA. And we think 45Z is a tax credit that has bipartisan support.”

Speaking to Brownfield at the National Association of Farm Broadcasting Convention in Kansas City last month, he said the SAF industry needs certainty.

“And we’ll continue to work hard to not only keep 45Z in tact, but frankly extend it. It only has three calendar years right now in statute, and you need greater certainty than that in the tax code. So we’re going to try to extend it far beyond 2027.”

ACE is calling for 45Z guidance that allows individual and stacked agricultural practices to qualify toward emission rates for credits, avoiding restrictive bundling approaches.
