Active summer land sale season a surprise
The vice president of an Illinois-based farmland brokerage says land values are holding steady at near record levels in a surprisingly active market.
Elizabeth Strom, with Murray Wise & Associates, tells Brownfield…
“It’s been a really interesting summer.” She says, “There’s actually been more auctions than we typically have seen, but they seem to be holding pretty flat.”
She says they’re seeing some regional differences in sale results.
“There’s some areas that there’s been a lot of farmland for sale, and then there’s other areas that are very competitive, that farmland is held very tightly.” She says, “So, a farm may sell very, very well in a competitive area just because there hasn’t been a lot of farmland for sale.”
Strom says all indications are pointing to an active fall land sale season as well.
